Jacoba de Boer, MA, LPCC, LPC is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) in North Dakota and a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Minnesota. She has a Master of Arts in Counseling from the University of North Dakota with an emphasis on community mental health counseling. She is caring, compassionate, and uses a strengths-based and relational approach to foster purposeful growth and wellbeing for individuals of 16 years and older. She provides emotional support and guidance to clients facing challenges such as stress, depression, anxiety, ADHD, relationship challenges, trauma, and transitioning to the U.S. from other parts of the world.
Ms. de Boer’s counseling practice is grounded in a person-centered, strengths-based, and emotion-focused approaches, and includes other modalities such as attachment-based therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, and acceptance and commitment therapy when appropriate. She serves individuals, couples, and groups by fostering a therapeutic environment that emphasizes safety, empowerment, and authentic connection. She has extensive training, research, and supervision leading to specialized proficiency in addressing relational trauma, relationship/couples counseling, anxiety, depression, ADHD, and specific learning disorders. This includes focused work with neurodiverse students in academic settings, where she has guided individuals in using tailored strategies that support both learning and mental well-being.
Ms. de Boer’s multicultural competency is shaped by both personal and professional experience. Having lived in Europe until the age of 32, she brings a lived understanding of cross-cultural perspectives and adjustment. Additionally, she has worked in higher education with students of various cultural backgrounds and identities for 18 years.
